Plymouth’s municipal history dates its settlement to 1825 and incorporation to 1867. It became a city in 1932. Railroad connections helped shape Old Village: George Starkweather opened a store near Liberty and Starkweather in 1871, the same year the Pere Marquette station was built. For a closer look at the community’s past, begin with the city’s history page and the Plymouth Historical Museum on South Main Street.
