Howell’s downtown calendar has several recurring traditions. The city describes a Sunday farmers market season from May through October, with produce, plants and crafts near the county courthouse.
Other familiar events include Michigan Challenge Balloonfest and the Howell Melon Festival, a downtown tradition dating to 1960. Fall brings the Legend of Sleepy Howell, while Fantasy of Lights is associated with the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Use these traditions as starting points for a visit, then consult the current organizer’s schedule. Dates, locations, admission, weather plans and parking arrangements may change each year.
